Unilever CDCO to leave in August

Multinational consumer goods giant Unilever recently announced that its chief digital and commercial officer (CDCO), Conny Braams, is leaving the company this August.

The London-headquartered company says it will appoint another executive "in due course" to replace Braams.

Braams started her journey at Unilever as a marketing trainee in 1990 and has remained with the company since then, having held several different roles, including executive VP for Middle Europe, executive VP for Benelux, and senior VP of Unilever's Foodsolutions and Out of Home business in 25 countries.

  • As CDCO, Braams has led Unilever's purpose-driven marketing strategies, which aim to assign a social or environmental purpose to all its brands to appeal to the younger generations that tend to be more socially conscious.
  • One example of Unilever's purpose-driven strategy is this year's Dove Self-Esteem project, which pushes for legislative action to address youth mental health issues stemming from social media use.
  • Unilever's CFO, Graeme Pitkethly, will also part ways with the company in May 2024.
