American podcast listening habits are growing, as there were more podcasts listened to in May than in April, according to Podtrac. There was a 3% bump month-to-month in podcast downloads, with iHeartPodcasts remaining in the top spot for publishers. iHeartPodcasts saw growth in downloads and unique listeners, with just under 33 million listeners and just shy of 375 million downloads, a 2% and 3% increase, respectively. - iHeartPodcasts also has the second-largest amount of eligible shows on the list (788), behind only the BBC (848).
- Wondery came in second with just over 24 million downloads and 169 million downloads, a 3% increase from last month.
- NPR remained in the third spot but dropped in its reach. NBC News jumped past the New York Times to claim fourth.
- Vox Media, which made its debut in the Podtrac rankings last month, held onto the 10th spot.
