Walgreens' corporate layoffs

 


The Walgreens Boots Alliance will cut 10% of its corporate workforce. 

The firm reported a $3B net loss for the first six months of fiscal 2023.

The upcoming layoffs will not affect workers at Walgreens' micro-fulfillment centers, call centers, or physical stores.

  • Walgreens is working to cut costs after reaching a $230M settlement with the city of San Francisco. 
    • San Francisco accused Walgreens of contributing to the city's opioid epidemic.
  • Walgreens spokesperson Fraser Engerman said the firm is working to transform itself into a "consumer-centric healthcare company."
