At VidCon on Thursday, YouTube announced a new collaboration with AI-powered dubbing service Aloud. A new tool from Aloud will transcribe YouTube videos, allow creators to approve or edit its work, and then produce a completely dubbed version. Aloud was developed within Google's Area 120 incubator. - YouTube has already started testing the tool with "hundreds" of creators.
- Aloud currently supports English, Spanish, and Portuguese, but according to a spokesperson, many more languages are on the way.
- The companies are also developing features that will make the translated audio tracks sound like the original creators' voice and sync their lips to the dubs; those tools will apparently launch in 2024.
