Yum! Brands-owned pizzeria chain Pizza Hut is partnering with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) media franchise for its latest marketing campaign. The marketing efforts are opportunely timed for the upcoming release of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem," which debuts in U.S. theatres on Aug. 2. Pizza Hut has been collaborating with the TMNT media franchise since the '90s. - The pizza chain's latest ads are centered around "underground deliveries" in the New York City subway system, representing the Turtles' underground home in the city's sewers.
- A video ad reveals how Pizza Hut tested underground pizza deliveries by allowing customers to order a pizza in subway stations by texting a turtle emoji to a special number.
Other pizza chains, namely Domino's, have also begun offering pizza deliveries to atypical address-free locations. - The ad campaign will be featured on TV, digital, and social media channels, as well as in Pizza Hut restaurants. The franchise is also releasing a TMNT AR game accessible via QR code.
