Microsoft has launched an AI training program in partnership with subsidiary LinkedIn, offering free coursework and certification on generative AI.  The AI Skills Initiative is said to offer "the first Professional Certificate on Generative AI in the online learning market." The coursework, initially available in English through LinkedIn's training platform, covers introductory AI concepts and responsible AI frameworks. Once they complete the course, participants will receive a Career Essentials certificate. Microsoft also plans to provide a trainer toolkit for educators interested in teaching AI courses. Google also released free generative AI training courses in May, covering topics like LLMs, responsible AI, and image generation. The initiatives can help address a shortage of AI skills among workers.
