  • Apple is developing its own chatbot and AI tools to compete with OpenAI and Google, according to Bloomberg. The company has created a framework called "Ajax" to build language models, including one referred to internally as "Apple GPT."
  • Google expanded its Bard AI chatbot to the European Union and Brazil, offering new features, including support for over 40 languages. Besides the wider rollout, Bard can now speak answers out loud to users, helping with things like word pronunciation, as well as responding to prompts of images.
  • Elon Musk's new AI company, xAI, aims to develop a beneficial AGI and explore concepts like dark matter, dark energy, aliens, and gravity. During a recent Twitter Spaces chat, Musk said his new AI venture would be able to compete with AI players such as Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI.
  • Meta is making its large language model, Llama 2, available for free to companies and researchers. As of this week, Llama 2 is available on Microsoft's Azure cloud computing service and is optimized to run locally on Windows.
  • Microsoft will charge businesses $30 a month per user to access its new AI assistant in its business Office software. The assistant, called Copilot, generates text, charts, and other content in Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and other Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Google is currently testing an AI tool named "Genesis" that can produce news content, as reported by The New York Times. The tool was demonstrated to high-ranking executives from major media outlets such as The Washington Post, The New York Times, and News Corp., which owns The Wall Street Journal.
