Circular-economy packaging producer ecoSPIRITS is launching its closed-loop technology in the Dominican Republic with Koi Dominicana, the spiced rum producer of Candela Mamajuana.  Candela, created in 2016, will be the first spirit available in a reusable "Ecotote." Each order will fund the removal of single-use plastic and other man-made wastes from endangered coral reefs and waters via the "ecoSPIRITS Oceans Programme." Alejandro Russo, the co-founder of Candela Mamajuana, hopes that "Candela Mamajuana becomes an example of eco-conscious values and sets the standards for other brands to follow."  Mamajuana, a blend of Dominican rum, spices, and honey, is the Dominican Republic's traditional native drink.  Candela Mamajuana is distilled from sugarcane juice before its aged in American oak barrels. U.K. vodka brand Black Cow collaborated with ecoSPIRITS to launch a branded Ecotote glass vessel in November 2022. The ecoSPIRITS technology is also adopted by Pernod Ricard in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Accolade Wines in Australia. In January 20022, ecoSPIRITS partnered with Stranger & Sons Gin to launch in India.  In October 2022, ecoSPIRITS, together with Diageo, officially launched its first Intelligent Circular closed-loop network in Indonesia, as the first significant deployment by the two companies since the partnership was first revealed in April 2022.
