Gemba, a virtual reality (VR) training startup hosting real-time "masterclasses," recently announced it had raised $18M Series A.
The enterprise-facing company offers a variety of exported-led courses, including "lean manufacturing" and "supply chain management."
- The VR classes take several days to complete.
- Because the classes take place in real-time, they have a life-like quality, giving students opportunities to engage with classmates and teachers.
- Nathan Robinson, Gemba's CEO, explained to reporters at TechCrunch: "In Gemba, you can freely walk around, grab objects, participate in simulations -– you can do everything you can do in real life, plus a load more that you can't do in real life."
- Gemba classes are currently limited to Meta Quest headsets, but the startup plans to support more VR/AR headsets by the end of 2023.
