Instagram removing life shopping

Instagram will officially remove live shopping from its application on March 16.

The move comes a month after the Shop tab was removed from the app.

Brands and individual creators alike will lose the ability to tag products for sale in their images and broadcasts.

    • Despite the change, Instagram says they are committed to building a shopping experience centered around Reels and paid ads.
    • Meta was once heavily invested in social commerce as a form of monetization but recently pulled back, shutting down live shipping on Facebook last year.
    • Meta experienced a 4% YoY decline in revenue in Q4 2022.
