American children are not consuming enough fruits but are overdoing it with sugar, according to a new government report.
The report analyzed each U.S. state on its own.
- Officials
from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated that
this is the first time that statistics that measure children's eating
have given results this worrying.
- According to the studies, In
2021, 32.1% of children aged 1–5 years did not eat a daily fruit daily.
In states like Louisana, this figure reaches 50%.
- Around 57% of kids had at least one sugary beverage each week, while in Mississippi, the number is nearly 80%.
- Children
living in financially struggling households are less likely to eat
either a daily fruit or vegetable and are more likely to consume
sugar-sweetened beverages during the preceding week.
