Virtual reality company Virtuix said it plans to launch its at-home VR locomotion product to consumers later this year.
The treadmill gaming machine enables users to walk and run in any
direction while they are engaged in virtual games and environments.
- Virtuix has started shipping the device, called the Omni One, to early investors ahead of the planned consumer launch.
- 900
early backers applied to purchase the beta units. In addition, Virtuix
says it has 35,000 general subscribers on a waiting list for future
devices.
- The Omni One ships with a customized Pico Neo 3, a VR headset made by Pico Interactive, a subsidiary of TikTok's parent company ByteDance.
- While
the treadmill will have 30 gaming titles at launch, Virtuix plans to
offer additional first-party games through its own future gaming store.
- The company previously launched a commercial version of the unit, the Omni Pro, at entertainment venues in 45 countries.
