Expedia is launching a media platform, GoUSA, allowing users to book travel while seeing content about their U.S. destinations.
The platform will have interactive media like clickable maps and long and short-form videos.
- Angelique
Miller, VP of media studios at Expedia, said, "The new technology
creates a space where someone can consume engaging travel content and
book experiences in the same place at the same time, effectively
'shopping the series.'"
- A study from American Express found that 70% of travelers from Gen Z chose their destination after seeing it on a screen.
- The
new platform will look to capture travelers' attention, which is a
major subsection of users on TikTok, YouTube, and traditional social
media.
- The New York Times also said that interest in
destinations increases after they appear on popular shows. They studied
the demand for Maui and Taormina, which increased after being the
backdrop for HBO's "The White Lotus."
