A new conversational Shortcut integrates ChatGPT into iPhones and other Apple devices.
S-GPT is accessible on iPhones via a home screen icon, widget, the Shortcuts app, or as a Shortcut inside Apple's Siri. Anyone can use it to ask questions and converse withChatGPT from a prompt box on iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
- MacStories founder and editor-in-chief Federico Viticci created S-GPT, which is a freely available Shortcut built with the native ChatGPT API offering native integration with Apple platforms.
- S-GPT supports extended back-and-forth conversations with ChatGPT.
- Viticci said he assigned a "personality" to S-GPT that programs it to deliver informative, clear, and "not excessively long" answers.
- Users can also manually ask it to export the conversations or "sessions" as a transcript once they're finished.
- While S-GPT supports a number of integrations on Apple's operating systems, "the big one" is its ability to take songs from ChatGPT conversations and automatically create a playlist of those songs in Apple's Music app, according to Viticci.
- According to Viticci,S-GPT is free but requires an OpenAI account , preferably with a pay-as-you-go plan, as OpenAI charges a small amount for each call to the API.
- Once users sign up, S-GPT can be used with the ChatGPT 3.5 model or, for those with API access , ChatGPT 4.
- It does require the installation of an additional helper shortcut.
