U.S.-based mattress firm Casper will sell its Canadian business to local retailer Sleep Country.

Sleep Country will use the acquisition to build out the network of 290 stores and 20 warehouses it already operates in the country.

    • Casper initially launched as a D2C business but has since developed several relationships with retailers as a wholesale supplier.
    • The mattress company expanded internationally in November 2014 through its e-commerce website.
    • The company significantly boosted its investments in Canada in 2018 by launching a headquarters, manufacturing operation, and physical retail fleet in the country.
    • Casper went public in February 2020 but then announced plans to go private again in November 2021 as its co-founder, Philip Krim, resigned as CEO.
