During a press event to discuss the UK's Sheffield Doc Fest, BBC's head of commissioning documentaries -- Clare Sillery -- discussed Netflix's controversial "Harry & Meghan" series. Sillery said the show could not have aired on the BBC, or any other public broadcaster, because producers had relinquished editorial control to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Sillery described commissioning documentaries for the BBC as a "question of trust," as the public "expects us to maintain... editorial standards."
