"Citadel" underperforms

Amazon's big-budget spy thriller series "Citadel" failed to make Nielsen's Top 10 streaming chart for the third week in a row.

The series reportedly cost $185 million to produce, has spinoffs in production, and has already been greenlit for a second season.

"Citadel" just missed Nielsen's Top 10 list on the first week following its April 28 debut, with 306 million viewing minutes, losing out to John Mulaney's Netflix comedy special, "Baby J."

  • The May 8-14 viewing window provided the show with its third chance to make the chart, with the added benefit of Amazon's international marketing campaign, and news of Indian and Italian spinoffs moving forward.
  • The #1 show for the May 8-14 window was Netflix's "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story," which held the spot for the second week in a row with 1.9 billion minutes viewed.
  • The #2 and #3 positions both went to films on Netflix, a relative rarity due to their shorter running times; they were "The Mother" and "A Man Called Otto," respectively.
