German automaker VW has launched an outdoor ad campaign to celebrate the release of its new fully electric van called the ID Buzz.

 The outdoor ads are being shown in New York and Los Angeles and feature digital billboards with video. 

The ID Buzz is modeled after the iconic 1960s VW Microbus and is already on the market in Europe. The vehicle will be available to U.S. consumers sometime next year. 

  • The digital billboard ads mimic the two-tone paint design of the retro VW Microbus with a white background on the top half and the other half matching the color of the VW van shown in the picture. 
  • The marketers opted for simple copy phrases like "A glass half full," "Something borrowed, and Hello, Sunshine."
  • This follows out-of-home teaser ads shown last month, featuring two colors but no car.
