"Warrior Nun" romance

 

In an interview with YouTube channel OCS Conclave, "Warrior Nun" writer David Hayter said Netflix shot down the idea of the two leads -- Ava and Beatrice -- having a romantic storyline.  The relationship, known as "Avatrice" among fans, was included in Season 2 without informing Netflix; Hayter claims the plots were added to the scripts in secret. According to Hayter, the show's Netflix development team was opposed to including "sex on any level" in the show. He says that the show's writers and the directing team coordinated on the plotlines without including them in scripts, so Netflix executives wouldn't find out they were included. Kristina Tonteri-Young, who played Beatrice in "Warrior Nun," has confirmed Hayter's description of events on Cameo. Netflix canceled "Warrior Nun" in December 2022 after two seasons, leading to an ongoing fan campaign pushing for a third season.
